Mission Statement

"To empower, educate and provide recognition to artists through scholarship and the propagation of an accessible and interactive multi-media community."

Pablo Picasso once stated, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.

In order to remain artists, they need access to an arts community.

Television and Internet technologies are now providing us with exciting opportunities.  Real time global communication between artists of all disciplines is within easy reach.  Virtual Galleries and message boards where artists can exchange tips and techniques are beginning to sprout up.  Online directories of grants and scholarships available to artists are now making themselves known across the web.

We seem to be approaching a golden-age of renaissance proportions, but we still have some hurdles before us.

  • We need to bridge the gap which exists between the arts and modern technology. We need a contemporary and flexible multi-media entity ready and willing to embrace any new technologies for the benefit of all artists.
  • We need to provide a culture of accessibility for all artists and all art disciplines. Looking across our many varied arts organizations as they presently exist is kind of like looking at a high school cafeteria. Groups of smallish cliques huddling around their own tables with snobbish disdain for so-called outsiders. We need an arts community that embraces arts of all forms. Everyone’s invited. Everyone’s shown respect.
  • We need a  leader.

Splat is determined to take the lead in providing the necessary infrastructure to an arts community built with tomorrow in mind.  Our plan of attack is multi-media.

Our arts community will be anchored by our television show, SPLAT – Adventures in the Arts.  Our television show will be youthful and exuberant, with a positive message for all artists.  We will delve into all forms of art with an eye for cutting edge reporting and in-depth interviews.  Our show will be fast-paced, hands-on, brightly colored, humorous and imminently watch-able.  Our plan, which we are already putting into action, is to have this television show on screens nationwide, taking full advantage of the current lack of viable content available to our nation’s educational airwaves.

Our television show will have an interactive online residence in SPLATweb.org.  On our modern and energetically-themed website, we will have all past episodes of out television show available in streaming digital video format.  We will have regularly updated web-content features which complement our television show topics.  We will provide recognition to artists and provide space for virtual galleries of their work.  We will have an interactive and ambitious message board forum, broken down into easily accessible sections for all art forms, where tips, techniques, information and general conversation can be exchanged.  We will also provide a centralized resource for all artists where they can locate art organization and scholarship/grant websites where they may be able to find help and/or abundant opportunities to advance their careers as artists.

Splat will also provide deserving artists with scholarships.  Utilizing both our television and internet technologies, we will provide artists with peer-judged contests and provide the winners with recognition on an awards segment of our television show, a feature story about the artist on our website and a prestigious Splattership Scholarship.

Splat relies on corporate donations for its entire budget.  Our past and future successes are wholly dependant on your contributions.
